Zonta clubs of Alassio-Albenga and Finale Ligure honor Zonta’s centennial and International Day of the Girl with celebratory gala

The Zonta clubs of Alassio-Albenga and Finale Ligure in Italy, District 30, organized an event to celebrate Zonta’s centennial at the Marina Yacht Club Restaurant on 11 October. The event was planned for this day to honor International Day of the Girl Child.

Seventy people attended, including leaders from the Zonta clubs of Monaco, Salon de Provence Catherine de Medicis, Imperia and Pinerolo as well as as the mayor of Albenga, Riccardo Tomatis, the Municipal Councilor Sandra Aicardi and Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Pizziconi.

During the evening, the Zonta Club of Alassio Albenga presented the Centennial Community Award to the Comando Compagnia Carabinieri of Albenga and to the association #Cosavuoichetilegga?.

The Carabinieri Command of Albenga was considered worthy of this award, accepted by Lieutenant Colonel Sergio Pizziconi, for the professionalism with which all the command staff stands out in the serious collaboration and management of the “pink room,” the first in the Province of Savona.

The room is a reserved, discreet and welcoming environment for women who are survivors of violence. Since its creation, it has been used to collect complaints of family maltreatment and to report persecution, to counteract the increasingly worrying phenomenon that occurs above all within the home. The commitment of the Weapon in defense of the victims requires training by the military who are called to assist with extreme empathy.

Cosavuoichetilegga? was identified for having collaborated on several occasions in the organization of events aimed at raising funds to significantly improve the status of women. Extraordinary people who, with intelligent and entertaining performances, invite a reflection on the condition of women. Among the most recent events we highlight the one realized in June, in collaboration with the Municipality of Borghetto SS, with the theatrical show “Sale d’Attesa,” which allowed the entire proceeds to be allocated to the shelter house for abused women “L’isola che c’è.”

In the course of the evening, the members who, with commitment, sense of belonging and dedication, served Zonta International with local advocacy and service actions, were thanked. Sixteen members from the Zonta Club of Alassio-Albenga were recognized for their 25 to 43 years of service with the Length of Membership Award: Piera Olivieri, Antonietta Barbieri, Teresa Ficcarelli, Iris Gaburri, Antonella Rossato, Mimma Pioselli, Luisella Banchieri, Mariangela Gerini, Graziella Montecucco and the founding members Marina Noberasco, Gabriella Peluffo and Maria Grazia Pozzi.

The Zonta Club of Finale Ligure recognized four members for their more than 25 years of service: Anna Cassalino, Carla Delfino, Piera Ferruccio and Marianna Risino.
