Swiss Zonta clubs celebrate centennial with panel discussion, award ceremonies and charity concerts

Panel Discussion on Digitization and Gender Gap
The participants were prominent representatives of business, politics and science. The talk was moderated by well-known journalist Esther Girsberger.

Centennial Country Recognition Award Ceremony
The Swiss Country Award went to Past Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard (in office from 2006 to 2018) as a role model for women in Switzerland. The award was presented by Past International President Sonja Hönig Schough, District 28 Governor Fernanda Gallo Freschi and District 30 Governor Vladimira Tracheva.

Prix Zonta Award Ceremony
Every two years, the Swiss Zonta clubs award a prize of CHF 30,000 (approximately US$ 30,176) to outstanding young female scientists in the fields of technology and natural sciences. On the occasion of 100 years of Zonta Interantional, Zonta Switzerland awarded two prizes to two young women, Prof. Simone Schürle and Prof. Andrea Ablasser, for their important contributions to medical research.

Charity Concert
The celebration ended with an outstanding performance of “Salut Salon,” a women’s quartet playing ravishing crossover music. The proceeds of the concerts will go to a project strengthening the interest and competence of girls in STEM (MINT) subjects.
