The Zonta Club of Leer-Ostfriesland in Germany, District 27, celebrated Zonta’s Centennial Anniversary on Friday, 8 November, on the AG Ems ferry “MS Ostfriesland.”
Members were joined by partners and members of participating parishes and supporters of their club project, which received the 2018 German Engagement Award “Moje Tieden – against women age poverty in East Frisia.”
With musical support from Oliver Jüchems and Holger Billker, fresh coffee and cake and BINGO with Dietmar Müller-Dunkmann, guests enjoyed a three-hour-long entertaining boat trip on the most modern ferry of the shipping company “AG Ems.”
This high-class event was made possible by the generous support of many sponsors from the cities of Emden, Leer and Aurich, where the club is based. With more than 170 registrations for this completely free event, pick-up service included, the Zonta Club of Leer-Ostfriesland was delighted with the high response.
“We were so filled with joy! They were strangers to us and everyone had a smile on their faces, a jolly good mood, joy and so much more, “commented President Ute Watermeyer. “Thanks ZONTA!”
As a farewell, each guest received a fragrant, handmade soap—lovingly packaged and labeled with a Zonta Club of Leer-Ostfriesland label—as a small reminder of the beautiful trip.
